MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2012 Sep 04 Observer(s): Colon Institution(s): UH Instrument: 4K No Observing (see comments below) Conditions were Overcast most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity all night. Observing Summary: I performed an emergency lightning shutdown at 7am due to a severe thunderstorm on the mountain at that time. I brought all the systems back up around 3pm and did not encounter any issues. Conditions were clear over the mountain at sunset. Humidity was high, around 80%. Our primary target did not rise until an hour after sunset, so I decided to wait for the humidity to go down rather than opening at sunset (based on the experiences of the night before, when the high humidity seemed to cause some possible condensation on the 4K CCD). The humidity ended up increasing to well over 80% and clouds moved in shortly after sunset. High humidity and clouds persisted through the rest of the night. It started raining/storming around midnight. I performed an emergency lightning shutdown at 1am. I called it a night at 2am, as the observing conditions were still not good and our target was setting in less than two hours. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2012 Sep 5 [1:55:44]
