MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Jan 04 Observer(s): Michael Fausnaugh Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 00 until 08. Beg: Overcast, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Weather started overcast, progressively lightened over the night. Delayed opening by 3 hours. Closed mirror cover at 06 UT because unable to acquire sufficient signal to noise. Reopened at 07:30 UT, and by 08:00 UT, conditions had lightened to hazy/cirrus clouds. Observed 5 usable AGN, 3 standard stars. No major technical difficulties. Did have some N-S nodding, at the normal 1 arcsecond amplitude. These seemed to start after I began sending dx/dy offsets to the guider for slit acquisition. For most of the night, the nodding seemed correlated with using the dx/dy offsets, but not 100%. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Jan 5 [6:31:32]
