MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Jun 27 Observer(s): Schimoia Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The calibrations of the beginning of the night were ok: arcs, dome flats and biases. When I was waiting the sunset to open the dome the McGraw computer stopped working, I called help and Eric Galayda solved the problem. However I noticed two things about the Data Acquision process: I) The Prospero software was trying to save two times the same file, this resulted in warnings like: CB> WARNING: FITS file '/lhome/data/ccds140627.0050.fits' already exists, writing as '/lhome/data/140425CS.3gj.fits' instead I do not think this was a real problem because Prospero saved all images correctly, but could be a problem for disk space if it keeps saving two copies every time. II) I could not find the directory /data/slit13/ in which the images for the slits should be saved. However I updated the images to the Linux workstation manually, then I was able to measure the telescope focus and track the seeing. Beyond that, there were no issues about the telescope and its operation. The sky was clear, low wind speed, and low seeing during almost all night. Also I did not notice any nodding problem. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Jun 28 [13:35:36]
