MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2014 Oct 26 Observer(s): Daniel Nieto Institution(s): Columbia University Instrument: 4K Worked for 2 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Overcast most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 19:30 until end. Beg: Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable, high humidity Mid: Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable, high humidity End: Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable, high humidity Observing Summary: High cirrus and patched clouds throughout the night. Observations were possible right after start-up for ~30min, followed by a sudden increase in humidity that prevented the continuation of the run (7:30pm, >85% rel. hum., condensation formed on cars). After closing the dome I took some domeflats (verifying that no condensation was forming on the rails inside). Humidity dropped below 70% for ~30min and I resumed the observations. While observing the telescope run into the pier interlock (my bad). A dedicated entry in the telescope manual on how to bring the telescope out of such a situation would be very welcome... I ended up moving the telescope out of the interlock with the help of the TCP virtual paddle. After that, I homed the telescope and waited for the weather to improve. I gave up at 5am... ------------------------------ Submitted on 2014 Oct 27 [5:02:51]
