MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Mar 20 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec + echelle REMOTE! Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5? arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.5? arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.5? arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Very good night, with clear skies on the KP skycam and decent seeing as far as I could tell. No problems, except xmis refused to execute dx and dy commands for some reason, though it did execute changes in absolute position. Used the telescope REMOTELY from my office at Dartmouth. This may be the first night that the 1.3m has been used for spectroscopy from off-site. Dartmouth observers Rob Fesen and Christine Black made it possible by opening, closing, and filling the dewar. The whole thing went very smoothly and was quite efficient, with no breaks in communication. I'll be on for the rest of the week (try the veal, and be sure to tip your server!) so remote operation should get a thorough shakedown. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Mar 21 [5:59:43]
