MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Mar 22 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec + echelle REMOTE! Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1-ish arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Some cirrus around, but seldom very thick. One problem at start - Andor slit-viewer would not connect to computer. Rob and Christine waved the situation by coming down and wiggling cables, finally plugging the USB cable into a different port on the computer. The Andor camera connnection apears to be the Achilles' heel of the operation, so far. Also, the guider slips pretty consistently at about 2.5 hours west, as has been noted many times before. Tracking this down, or at least looking through the insides carefully, might make a good summer-shutdown project. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Mar 23 [5:44:36]
