MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Oct 08 Observer(s): Alper Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec/Templeton Worked for 8 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Overcast, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Tonight started out far better than last night (my apologies for the lack of report, by the way). No clouds, low humidity, good conditions all around. Everything went smoothly until about 1:00 am local time, when clouds began to come in. Observations continued in spite of that, though cover became heavy by 2:00 am LST (had totally lost a guide star at this point). At that time, KPNO closed their domes due to threatening clouds. Furthermore, Christine and Rob at the 2.4 were wrapping up for the night in preparation for their travel home tomorrow, so they closed as well. Although weather websites still show no chance of rain (2:23 am LST), as a remote observer I'm at the mercy of those on the ground, and I feel my only safe course of action is to close early as well. Hopefully tomorrow night the good weather will persist! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Oct 9 [2:26:56]
