MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2015 Sep 22 Observer(s): Edmund Hodges-Kluck, Vivienne Baldassare, Adi Foord Institution(s): University of Michigan Instrument: Templeton Worked for 2 hours (part of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity from 18:00 until 02:00. Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Humidity was higher than 85% until roughly 2:00am, at which point it stabilized around 82%. We opened the dome at 2:30am, but had issues getting the telescope to slew. Although the telescope was pointed at zenith, the tilt sensors registered values that were extremely off. We tried many times to home/point but could only get the dome to move. Finally, we checked the knife switch controlling the declination motor inside the dome, and found that it was showing an error. We flipped the switch off and on. After flipping the switch, we restarted the TCS GUI and the telescope was able to point. We got in ~1 hour of observing before dawn. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2015 Sep 23 [6:03:09]
