MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Aug 22 Observer(s): Clarkson, Vowell, Aufdemberge Institution(s): UM-Dearborn Instrument: ANDOR Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Got a good 6h or so on our science target, with minor dropouts for cloud. Took a few exposures in BVRI on Uranus to support class activities Sequence on NGC 869 (avoiding very bright star) for possible calibration exercise. Problem, possibly minor: After accidentally entering poin ha=... in TCS interface, were unable to point to specified (HA, DEC) when tracking turned on. Error message ERROR point track rates incorrect . Workaround: turn tracking off, issue point command, turn tracking ON. We don't recall seeing this behaviour before. At this time of morning we aren't sure if this is usual behaviour we've just forgotten, or a genuine problem. Can enter RA, DEC directly in the Telescope control fields while tracking on. Doesn't work while tracking off. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Aug 23 [5:04:17]
