MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Jun 26 Observer(s): Alper Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Andor Worked for 7 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: KPNO's domes were closed at the beginning of the night, and as per my remote observing rules, I did not open while they were closed. However, a later check with the 2.4 m observers confirmed that conditions were nice and that KPNO was likely being overly cautious, and so we opened around 9:30 pm MST. Everything ran smoothly until the end of the night, when, during closing, the dome stopped receiving commands from the TCS GUI. After raising the dropleaf an error appeared (which I foolishly did not save when I tried resetting the TCS software), and after that I could no longer raise or lower the dropleaf or slit remotely. Luckily the 2.4 m observers were able to manually close everything, and I've let Eric know about the problem. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Jun 27 [5:15:24]
