MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Mar 09 Observer(s): Paust Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Echelle Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: We saw the sunset through the solar telescope and headed down to do some good observing. No problems at all until about 4 am. However, after observing some standards at a high airmass, the rtel server crashed. We tried repeatedly shutting down the telescope services and restarting them, but as soon as the TCS GUI would connect, the rtel server would crash. We manually closed the dome and mirror covers and gave the software one last try... and the server stayed up, which allowed us to put the telescope back at the zenith. At the moment, it appears that everything is working without a problem. However, we've collected all the data we need and we're going to let discretion be our guide. The emergency stop button is pressed for good luck. Thank you again to all the MDM staff who make it so productive to come observe here. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Mar 10 [4:25:56]
