MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 May 12 Observer(s): S Hamilton, Z Felker, M Past, B Greaves, B Dittenber, S O'Keefe Institution(s): University of Michigan Instrument: 4K imager Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: We completed observations for three separate student projects. The first was obtaining observations of Near Earth Objects, using 3 total hours. The second was obtaining H-alpha observations of the radio lobe of the Death Star galaxy, totalling 2.5 hours. The third was obtaining observations of several luminous blue variable stars, totalling 1.5 hours. The remaining time was used for flats and becoming acquainted with the telescope. There were usually hints of clouds in the east, and the seeing started to get worse through the night.
