MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Nov 01 Observer(s): Cho, Halpern Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: Templeton Worked for 9 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 00:40 until 3:40. Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: The night began in remote mode with Cho operating from Columbia. The telescope spontaneously stopped tracking several times. Starting and stopping the TCS didn't solve the problem. After a couple of hours it spontaneously resumed tracking. Very mysterious. Halpern arrived at the observatory and took over operation locally at 11:30 pm. At 12:30am, high humidity and low clouds forced closure for 3 hours. Opened again at 3:40 am. Halpern closed the dark hatch and filled the dewar. There's a dead mouse in the 1.3m kitchen. Tomorrow's operation will be from the 2.4m control room. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Nov 2 [6:31:58]
