MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Sep 11 Observer(s): Jules Halpern Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: Templeton Worked for 8 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Got a late start by about 1 hour due to threatening clouds. When the threat lifted, I spent the rest of the night on one long time series. Bunches of small clouds came through several times during the night, interrupting the observation for 15-30 minutes each time. I ended a bit early because the telescope at +53 declination hit a software limit at HA +5. I'm not sure if this limit is enforced by JSkyCalc or the TCS or both, but HA +5 seems a bit too conservative at the declination of +53, where the airmass is only 1.79 and the telescope won't hit the wire. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Sep 12 [3:56:30]
