MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2017 Sep 13 Observer(s): Thorstensen and Weil Institution(s): Dartmouth College Instrument: Templeton Worked for 7 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 1am until . Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Overcast, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Beginning of the night the telescope was nodding while pointing straight up toward the zenith. We pointed to a different object further East which seemed to help with the nodding. We then had issues with the focus on the telescope. It didn't seem to matter what we tried, the telescope would not go into focus and stars had a triangular shape. The nodding issue repeated itself in the middle of the night when the telescope would not track and lost the guide star multiple times. Clouds started to roll in at about 1am and between the nodding, clouds and poor forecast I closed at just before 2am. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2017 Sep 14 [1:55:54]
