MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Aug 10 Observer(s): Clarkson, Fiolka, Vowell Institution(s): UM-Dearborn Instrument: Andor Worked for 6 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 2100 until 2200. Beg: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Opened at about 2200 after threatening clouds had moved on. Got six hours on target, followed by morning twilight flats. Noticed some vertical shake in the guider (about 1 arcsec); some science images show some vertical blurring. This appeared to be transient; guiding generally OK (RMS 0.5 X, 0.2 Y). Unfamiliar TCS output on morning closing: both the Slit and DropLeaf indicators show rain in red text, and on typing tx droleaf close, the TCS console returns the message done dropleaf cantopen=rain . The 2.4m observer (JR) verified that the dropleaf was indeed closed; we closed the slit and the dome seems to be closed up fine. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Aug 11 [6:16:15]
