MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Feb 06 Observer(s): Hodges-Kluck, Li Institution(s): Michigan Instrument: Templeton Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Winds from 8 until 10. Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate, dust Mid: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The beginning of the night was windy with blowing dust, so we shut down about 1 hour after sunset and re-opened about 90 minutes later. The rest of the night was calm and clear. When we tried to close the dropleaf, the telescope returned: 'ERROR dropleaf adam read digits error E027F00' and the dropleaf did not close. Stopping/starting the telescope program fixed this. At one point, the telescope threw a 'point did not converge' error and for a while thereafter there were rapid shifts in Dec that prevented long exposures. Restarting the TCS control panel and slewing to another target, then back, fixed the problem. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Feb 7 [7:06:38]
