MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Mar 21 Observer(s): Jules Halpern Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: Templeton Worked for 5 hours (off and on through the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Got a late start opening because of clouds. Was able to observe for about 3 hours before midnight. Seeing and tracking were very good. On the first target the filter wheel got stuck between filters. I reinitialized the MIS and that fixed it. This was not at an extreme pointing angle, by the way. Closed for clouds for most of the second half, but it cleared at 4am and I was able to observe for an hour before it became cloudy again. Got some cloudy sky flats at the end, hoping they are better than nothing, as the forecast is again poor for tomorrow night. The filter wheel got stuck at the end of the night when pointing at zenith. Reinitialize MIS fixed it. Please check it out. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Mar 22 [6:12:28]
