MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2018 Oct 31 Observer(s): Weil & Podjed Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Echelle Worked for 7 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 3:30 until . Beg: Seeing 3.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 3.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: The beginning of the night we had problems pointing the telescope, we were getting slew errors when we attempted to point to targets. The problem went away after we drove the telescope by hand to the zenith and just kept attempting to slew the telescope. In addition we had problems with data acquisition in OWL when the connection was lost. This problem was solved when Eric rebooted mdmarc2. We encountered additional pointing problems at 3:30am and could not fix the problem by pointing to the zenith so we opted to close the telescope. Seeing at the beginning of the night was >3 . Seeing improved at 1:30am to ~1.5 . Closed at 3:30am due to pointing problems and clouds. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2018 Nov 1 [4:10:47]
