MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2019 Jan 31 Observer(s): Podjed, Stephanie Institution(s): Dartmouth College Instrument: Templeton Worked for 6 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Humidity all night. Beg: Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable End: Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable, humidity!!! Observing Summary: Started off cloudy around sunset; able to get a decent number of flats in before counts would not go above ~5k. Sky cleared up for quite a while; few moments where there were patches of clouds overhead though. Everything was going well, humidity was rising; around 11:30pm 'KPNO domes closed - threatening clouds' popped up and the humidity did jump up high and quickly. Finished taking my last observations then closed up the telescope around that time. When using commands 'tx slit/dropleaf close', when it was done, would display 'done slit/dropleaf cantopen=rain'; double checked with the 2.4m operator that it was not raining at that time though. Rh at 80% by 12pm and has held steady from 87%+ since 12:52pm. A look at clear sky charts and Kitt Peak National Observatory Weather sites show high 80+ humidity until past sunrise & there is rain in the vicinity on radar plus clouds for the rest of night. Decided to disconnect from vnc network at 2:40am ------------------------------ Submitted on 2019 Feb 1 [2:41:29]
