MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2021 Jan 08 Observer(s): Jules Halpern Institution(s): Columbia U. Instrument: Templeton Worked for 11.5 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Overcast, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Clouds cleared around 10pm. A west wind seemed to cause a periodic tracking error when pointing west. But the results were good anyway. Here's an interesting observation: I observed the same star for several hours on each of three nights. Each night there was an identical diagonal jump in the image that we attribute to a 'flop' in the MIS guider, for lack of a better explanation. These occurred at HA = +2:27, +2:34, and +2:27 on the three nights, respectively. That must be quite a balancing act! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2021 Jan 9 [7:25:07]
