MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2021 Oct 11 Observer(s): Keighley Rockcliffe, Aylin Garcia Soto Institution(s): Dartmouth College Instrument: MODSPEC Worked for 4 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: High Winds from 18:00 until 22:30. Beg: Clear, Winds High, Gusts up to 40mph Mid: Clear, Winds Calm End: Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: We (Aylin and I) opened at 18:00 MST. We took comparison observations. We looked for a standard star target. Andor camera was showing erratic movement with each exposure (~1-2s). We moved the telescope to point away from the wind, which helped stabilize it. We found a guide star. We slewed the telescope to nearby0 target and took two test exposures. We were having trouble getting the star centered on the slit. While we were figuring this out, the lights and printer kept flicking on and off. Phone calls from John Thorstensen kept being interrupted by the power outages. Then the OSMOS setup monitors started turning off and on frequently. See more details in the 2.4m form for tonight. We decided to close the 1.3m at around 22:00 MST. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2021 Oct 11 [22:31:56]
