MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2021 Oct 26 Observer(s): John Thorstensen and students Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec+templeton Worked for 12 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: A really good night, very good conditions the whole time except for an hour or so of excessive wind shake at the beginning. The winds were not especially strong, certainly way below any limit, but the 1.3m is something of a sail at some orientations. Even with the shake I got useful data on a bright target. Everything worked very nicely, until the end when I could not get the dropleaf to move. I figured the electrical contact was bad so tried moving the dome off home and re-homing it, but still no dice. I can't get the slit to move either, so I figure the problem is in the contacts. Luckily the weather is good! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2021 Oct 27 [6:31:02]
