MDM Observatory 1.3m Telescope Observing Report for 2024 Apr 23 Observer(s): Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Templeton direct Worked for 6 hours (first half of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 10 PM until end. Beg: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable, Good! Mid: Seeing 2 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable, Bright cirrus. End: Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable, Closed. Observing Summary: Full moon! Started out clear with light wind and very good seeing -- below 1.5 arcsec, which is good for the 1.3m -- and very good conditions held for a couple of hours. Then, light cirrus started coming in from the southwest. These were fairly transparent but scattered quite a bit of moonlight, raising the already strong background. Some clearer patches blew over, so I kept going until my principal target was way over in the west. By then the cirrus were heavier, and the IR images on the College of DuPage site showed still thicker cirrus coming in, so I closed up and called it a night. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2024 Apr 24 [1:22:48]
