MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2001 Apr 13 Observer(s): David Helfand and Ali Kinkhabwala Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: 8K camera Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 0.9 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: The sky was claer all night (excepting early evening cirrus to the East, although until the last couple of hours (AFTER the moon rose) there didn't seem to be enough stars out there, so I think there must have been at least a light haze. Seeing ranged from 1.2 at beginning and end to 0.9 or slightly better for long periods in the middle. Everything worked smoothly. The only irritation is that the 8K computer does not have IRAF (which reduces ones efficiency because of having to ftp files to the other machines), and that the program it does have to display the 8 chips puts them at random orientations to each other, making centering up on a star slightly less easy. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Apr 14 [14:12:24]
