MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2001 Apr 16 Observer(s): scharf Institution(s): columbia Instrument: 8k Worked for 6 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Clouds to South all night, and overhead for 2-3 hours spread over night. Unlikely to be photometric during night. Seeing moderate to good (1-1.5arcsec). Minor problem/new condition with guider. Appears to be a gradient of sensitivity from left to right (east-west) on tv monitor (ie in these coordinates), such that sources to left show many fewer counts and can be hard to guide on, right hand side can have a factor 5 more counts for the same source - I am unaware of any problems with blocking of the guide field of view, perhaps something has caused a sensitivity variation across the camera ? Only problematic when it reduces effective area to find guide stars in. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Apr 17 [4:14:46]
