MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2001 Feb 02 Observer(s): Lepine, De Marco Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: MkIII spectrograph Worked for 7 hours (off and on through the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the summary for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Had problems with the CCD: very high background counts first attributed to a bright sky; at about 11pm we realized that the CCD was not cool enough. For some reason, it appears that the dewar had not been filled up properly at the beginning of the night and the CCD heated up to -10C. We refilled the dewar and had to wait 90 minutes for the CCD to cool down again. The CCD functionned well after being cooled down. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Feb 3 [7:16:42]
