MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2001 Jun 22 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec + Echelle Worked for 2 hours (last half of the night) Bad weather most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds from 8 until 1:30. Beg: Overcast, Winds Moderate Mid: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Thunderstorms early in the evening eventually died down. It became clear enough to warrent opening around 1:30, but clouded up entirely around 4:00 (20 minutes into twilight). I obtained some exploratory spectra of CVs and a few time-critical spectra. Seeing was actually quite good (as estimated from slit) but transparency was highly variable. No problems with equipment. As a side note, the telescope appears to be pointing acceptably well using the model derived last year. This is encouraging since the telescope was recently aluminized and the pointing model might be expected to have changed. I have not run a pointing test, but it may not be needed. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Jun 23 [4:47:07]
