MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2001 May 12

Conditions were Mixed most of the night.
Problems were encountered, see the summary for details.

Seeing and Weather:
   Clouds all night.
   Beg: Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm
   Mid: Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm
   End: Clear, Winds Calm

Observing Summary:

It was cloudy early and I spent that time trying to reconcile the slit width
readout on modspec with the actual slit width.  It seems that a slit
width of one arcsecond requires a dial reading of 99 50 or negative
.5 arcseconds.  I'll put notes on what I did in the modspec manual 
at the 2.4 m. It cleared for a few hours in the middle of the night, and clouded up again.
At 3 AM it cleared again and I notice that the telescope was not tracking.
The green GO light on the TCS box was off.  The light will only come on 
while I hold the start button, otherwise it is off.  I managed to hold it
down and park the telescope, but the light still will not stay on.
The telescope will not slew or track without it.  MOre information in tonights trouble report.
