MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2001 May 26 Observer(s): Vestergaard Institution(s): OSU Instrument: CCDS Worked for 8 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Clouds all night. Beg: Seeing ~2 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable, thin cir. @horizon Mid: Seeing ~3 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm, cirrus widespread End: Seeing ~3 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm, cirrus widespread Observing Summary: After the head electronics was recovered late afternoon, the CCDS computers were brought to working order by kind help from Rick Pogge. Both the instrument and the telescope worked fine all night with no problems at all. Thanks to Bob for checking out the telescope, to Rick for spending many hours during the day trying to fix the instrument electronics, and to Bob, Jules, and Jerry Mason for checking back with me as to the status. One comment: The guider tv is harder to adjust now. It doesn't respond well to adjustments in voltage and in particular will not turn off when the dial is turned down. Stars are still seen at the same level as before. It also takes a bit longer to shut itself off when the finder mirror moves in and reflects the arc lamps. It can still be used, though. Is there a way to reset the voltage? Turning the voltage box off and on again, does not solve the problem (which might be obvious to those more knowledgable about what might be the problem). ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 May 27 [5:10:17]
