MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2001 May 29 Observer(s): Don Neill Institution(s): Columbia Instrument: 8K Worked for 8.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the summary for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Had a problem with dark slide on 8K not being secure and sliding shut upon long slew. Fixed by jamming (lightly) to one side to stick. Shutter stopped working during a focus run producing strange images. We reset to zenith pointing and commanded the shutter to open and close a few times. The shutter worked fine after that. Computer mdm1 froze after reading out 97% of last sky flat (lost). Had to reboot mdm1. Once back up, communication with ccd was restored and I continued with pof and turning off slave then master power supply. Seems ok now. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 May 30 [6:14:48]
