MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2001 Nov 17 Observer(s): J. Pinkney and M. Aller Institution(s): University of Michigan Instrument: Modspec with Templeton Worked for 12.5 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: We obtained spectra of 6 galaxies over the course of the night. There were patchy cirrus clouds throughout the night, but they did not affect our observing until near dawn. The sky remained clear enough for us to have excellent viewing of the Leonid meteor showers, as well. Near dawn we had a problem with the rotator encoders which suddenly glitched and started reading approximately -650 instead of 35.2. We attempted to rotate back to 0. using the tape markers and then reset the encoder in an attempt to fix this problem. That worked. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2001 Nov 18 [6:43:13]
