MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2002 Nov 05 Observer(s): Monique Aller Institution(s): University of Michigan Instrument: Wilbur + MODSPEC Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable, gusty winds Mid: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable, gusty winds End: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: I observed 5 galaxies, each along one axis, as well as accompanying template stars and calibration images. I encountered two problems during the night. First, the guider PC died . That is it refused to respond to any commands on the keyboard, and had to be shut off and restarted. This happened twice. The other minor problem was when I went to one of my galaxies, the telescope was almost at the position, but refused to accept that it was there - instead printing a message that the Dec encoders were not responding. I hit the stop button in the xtcs window and resent the coordinates and hit go a second time. This time there was a long delay, but the telescope was eventually able to reach the desired position. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2002 Nov 6 [4:01:44]
