MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2002 Oct 29 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec + echelle Worked for 11 hours (most of the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Fog/Low Clouds, Winds Light & Variable, just 1 hr of fog End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: The night was nice and clear, except for a bizarre episode of fog which came on very suddenly just after 10 PM, and which most uncharacteristically dissipated soon thereafter. It was clear again with quite safe humidity by 11:15 PM. Spectroscopy of cataclysmic variables. Bob adjusted the RA preload today, and the singing and jumping problems of the last few nights are resolved. It's also just a little warmer. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2002 Oct 30 [6:33:22]
