MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 Apr 20 Observer(s): eve armstrong Institution(s): columbia Instrument: echelle Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Trouble getting the nitrogen tanks to work at the start of the night. Initialized the support system and turned on the nitrogen -- repeated 4 times. Hard point readings wouldn't drop below 50. Then, as soon as I slewed to a target, the hard point readings immediately jumped down to 30! nitrogen pressure started at 1440psi, dropped to 1100 by 4am. turned out to be a good night! ------------------------------ Submitted on 2003 Apr 21 [4:07:18]
