MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 Apr 30 Observer(s): Nestor, Belfort Institution(s): U Pittsburgh Instrument: direct (templeton) Worked for 6 hours (last half of the night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable, clear, but transp Mid: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable, not very good - End: Seeing 0.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable, dust? Observing Summary: DBN made a mistake - I offset the telescope -10 to center star in frame, then set ra dec encoders before re-entering coords, so the telescope thought it was at ra=0, dec=-10! This sent the telescope off to the limits, then we had a bit a trouble getting it recovered - we needed to guess the actual ra&dec, reset the encoders, THEN use the paddle to put it back to zenith. Then it took some time to get the pointing recoverd. In the end, all was well, however. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2003 May 1 [16:15:26]
