MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 Feb 02 Observer(s): Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: modspec + echelle Worked for 10+ hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 3 arcsec, Clear, Winds High Mid: Seeing 5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Nice and clear, but sharply colder - mirror warmer than ambient, substantial wind, so mostly wretched seeing which weirdly improved just in the last 2 hrs. Had to close early to catch a plane. Two problems: 1) CCD read failed at start, see Feb 1 trouble; 2) At very end, telescope tracking slipped at 2 47 E. Luckily I already had enough on that target anyway so I could just close up. Before I did so I slewed out of the jam and the tracking appeared normal again. It is maybe 8 C cooler than it's been. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2003 Feb 3 [4:35:23]
