MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 Jun 17 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: echelle direct + 2in FW Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable, a very few clouds Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Observing Summary: Clear all night with variable seeing. A little windy toward morning, and mirror went above ambient, causing bad seeing then. Direct imaging of cataclysmic variables and candidates. Minor glitches -- the 50 liter storage dewar pressure was low in the evening, leading to a very slow fill; there was one instance of a non-completed auto-setting; and the coffee maker appears to be working poorly (H2O doesn't get hot enough). On that last one, I think it doesn't owe us anything, maybe time to get a new one. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2003 Jun 18 [5:29:22]
