MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 Jun 18 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: echelle direct + 2in FW Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable, seeing variable End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: A good night, photometric but with variable seeing. Direct imaging of cataclysmic binaries for astrometry and ID work. One minor glitch -- the ambient dome temperature reported by the A/C control computer intermittently reads crazy values (like -2000 Celsius). If it persists long enough it can show up on the history graph. Also, following up on the coffee maker, I think last night the power switch had somehow been turned off (though it was taped). I'm still not entirely sure the water is getting hot enough. Changing to spectroscopy tomorrow. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2003 Jun 19 [5:42:42]
