MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 May 05 Observer(s): Monique Aller Institution(s): University of Michigan Instrument: MODSPEC+Wilbur Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable, humid=50% Mid: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm, humid=66% End: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm, humid=35% Observing Summary: I encountered a problem at the begining of the night where the hand paddle would not communicate with the TCS computer, meaning I was unable to slew/change the position of the telescope. (I was also unable to change the telescope focus). After consulting with Bob Barr, the TCS computer was restarted. This appeared to fix the problem, but resulted in a complete loss of pointing which took some time to fix. Following this problem, I observed 4 galaxies, each along the major axis, along with associated template stars and calibration images. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2003 May 6 [5:37:00]
