MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 May 17

Worked for 10 hours (all night)
Conditions were Mixed most of the night.
Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details.

Seeing and Weather:
   Clouds all night.
   Beg: Seeing .8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm
   Mid: Seeing .9 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm
   End: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm

Observing Summary:

time series photometry.

problem with filter wheel.  UBVRI were fine; GG420, WG280, and 
BG38 produced zero counts.  

took an exposure with GG420, -- blank.  checked mirror,
dark hatch, dome azimuth -- all fine.  shut everything down, 
rebooted, reinitialized.  UBVRI still fine, GG420 still no counts.  
cycled through filters and intialized again -- suddenly GG420
worked.  then did a focus frame, and GG420 was blank again.  
gave up and used R instead.

we used GG420 on the previous night, with no trouble.
