MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 May 19 Observer(s): joe patterson, eve armstrong Institution(s): columbia Instrument: templeton Worked for 10 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Mid: Seeing 1.6 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1.7 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: time series photometry. trouble with filter wheel at first - wasn't taking object images (only what looked like biases.) re-initialized, and it worked fine. calm, clear all night. no problems. ODE TO WZ SAGITTAE AND THE 'ET' COMMAND The star at 20 7, 18 sports this funny quirk That makes it rather difficult to make templeton work. Two periods of 28 and 21 last night Seemed dubious -- joe's wondering if he believes they're right. 'Tis hard to strike a compromise 'tween two alternate cues That tell the ccd which camera setting it should use. 'et' will clear the chip -- a second we don't want to waste. Yet 'ep''s taking longer; neither one quite fits our taste. Alas, we took the standard 'et', setting it to 2, And sat and sighed and waited -- for what else was there to do?
