MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2003 May 26 Observer(s): Fesen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Echelle Direct Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 2.0 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Some light cirrus but mostly clear. Seeing was highly variable ranging from 0.9 to > 3 arcsec. Nonetheless, obtained excellent data. However, while looking 3 hrs over to the east, the E-W tracking failed in the same manner as 4 and 5 days ago as reported by previous observer. The problem occurred three times, the last being at HA = 2.5 hrs. Repeately hitting W button both on slow and set motion speeds would, after 10-30 seconds, cure the problem. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2003 May 27 [5:51:44]
