MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2004 Aug 25

Instrument: RETROCAM/CCDS

Worked for 8 hours (most of the night)
Conditions were Photometric most of the night.
Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details.

Seeing and Weather:
   Beg: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable
   Mid: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable
   End: Seeing 1.0 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable

Observing Summary:

Conducted initial focus and night testing of RETROCAM. 
Parfocalized RETROCAM with CCDS.  Attempted to take images of
intended RETROCAM targets, but pointing became problematic. 
Unless the telescope is actually guiding, the pointing quickly
degrades by up to a few arcmin.  It was important to rapidly
select a guide star and begin guiding in order keep one's target 
in the field.
