MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2004 Dec 17

Worked for 10 hours (all night)
Conditions were Mixed most of the night.
Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details.

Seeing and Weather:
   Beg: Seeing 1.2 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate
   Mid: Seeing 3.5 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable
   End: Seeing 1.8 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Light & Variable

Observing Summary:

Ra encoder failed for short while at the beginning of the night (~7pm).  First it set itself to 00:00:00.  Then it refused to register changes inthe telescope position. ABout 15 minutes later, it simply fixed itself.  But, we lost some time recentering the telescope. 

Chichon crashed just as we were trying to take skyflats.  Everythings seems okay, but we missed our flats. 

Seeing mixed.  Went from nice early on to pretty poor seeing later. Some high clouds seem to be moving around most of the night.
