MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2004 Jan 09 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Echelle direct + 2in FW Worked for 13 hours (all night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. Problems were encountered, see the separate trouble report for details. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1.3 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Observing Summary: Very good night, photometric until the last hour or so. Seeing dipped below 1 arcsec from time to time but was mostly about 1.3 arcsec. High cloud at end. Everything worked great, but I noticed that the dome is very persnickety about being *perfectly* aligned with the contacts, or else the slit motor will cut out if the button isn't held down. Perhaps the contacts need a look, but it isn't urgent. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2004 Jan 10 [7:45:37]
