MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2004 Jun 21 Observer(s): Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec + echelle CCD Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Light & Variable End: Seeing 1+ arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm Observing Summary: A good night, spectroscopy of cataclysmic binaries and related objects. Some proto-monsoon stuff to the east and south at sunset, but it stayed away mostly except for a brief interval of high cloud early in the evening. One minor anomaly - when focusing over a large range, the image appears to shift in a smooth linear fashion, e.g. by maybe 5-10 arcsec in a travel of a couple hundred focus numbers. I don't remember this happening before. Could this be related to the collimation? ------------------------------ Submitted on 2004 Jun 22 [5:05:52]
