MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2004 Jun 23 Observer(s): Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec + echelle CCD Worked for 4 hours (off and on through the night) Conditions were Mixed most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Rain from 5 until 9. Beg: Overcast, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm End: Seeing 1 arcsec, Patchy Clouds, Winds Calm Observing Summary: The mini-monsoon continued, with a thunderstorm just after sunset necessitating a lightning shutdown (one stroke was within a count of 10, or two miles). The weather was truly weird in the afternoon and evening, with a light spitting rain coming from nowhere in particular, sometimes from a nearly clear sky. Eventually it settled down for real and we opened, then closed for cloud for an hour, then opened til dawn. The mirror A/C breaker appears to be dropping out from time to time even when there isn't a major power glitch. Other than that, and the weather, no problems. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2004 Jun 24 [5:15:58]
