MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2005 Apr 18 Observer(s): S. Lepine Institution(s): AMNH Instrument: Direct + Echelle Worked for 9 hours (all night) Conditions were Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: High Winds from 11pm until . Beg: Seeing 0.9 arcsec, Clear, Winds Moderate Mid: Seeing 1.4 arcsec, Clear, Winds High End: Seeing 1.5 arcsec, Clear, Winds High Observing Summary: Night started with excellent seeing, but increasing winds (gusting at 20-25mph) ruined things a bit. The seeing became variable, though still relatively decent. However, the telescope at times showed a small (<1 ) but noticeable N-S jitter that degraded the seeing and produced elongated PSFs. Observing tagets with the telescope pointing downwind eliminated the problem. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2005 Apr 19 [6:14:33]
