MDM Observatory 2.4m Telescope Observer's Report for 2005 Mar 21 Observer(s): John Thorstensen Institution(s): Dartmouth Instrument: Modspec + echelle CCD Worked for 11 hours (all night) Conditions were Non-Photometric most of the night. No equipment or software problems were encountered. Seeing and Weather: Beg: Seeing 1 arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Light & Variable Mid: Seeing 1 arcsec, Clear, Winds Calm End: Seeing 0.6? arcsec, Cirrus, Winds Calm Observing Summary: Every so often one gets a night which reminds one as to why they decided to put an observatory on Kitt Peak. Almost clear, just a little light cirrus from time to time, winds nearly calm, and -- at times -- utterly spectacular seeing, at least as well as I could judge from the images reflected from the slit jaws. Minor bug -- I was stuck hand-guiding a couple of fields, and noticed that the North button the hand paddle is getting tired. If you hit it wrong it sometimes wedges and sticks. Dome went into a fugue state twice, once at the very beginning of the night when I enabled it, which was a new one for me. ------------------------------ Submitted on 2005 Mar 22 [6:19:25]
